Their Eyes See Into Our Souls

So the ending of the fourth month at Heartland has begun. Along with the Xmas spirit-which of course, is a time to celebrate. :) Things around here have been hectic. I found out sleeping is umm...sort of important to ones well being and overall health-mental, emotional, and physical. As such, I have to keep this post short-its already 11 and I need to get up early. I've gotten pretty good at cleaning stalls-record so far is 9 minutes and 43 seconds for one stall! Everyone's been pretty busy-getting ready for Xmas and whatnot. I've been trying to arrange hangout time with everyone though. Though it hasn't really been working-besides having lunch with Erin that one time. I've taken up daydreaming incessantly-everything from story ideas to what I want to do with my life. I've gotten a new roomate-her name is Jozzy. She's 22 years old. She reminds me a lot like my old friend Brianna. :) Sweet, but has a certain fire to her.
I've been feeling much more grounded. Before the past couple of months it felt like I was living in a dream. Almost like I was sort of observing myself-instead of really living it. Its hard to explain. Anyways-I'm much more comfortable now-I've really settled in, mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, or whatever else you want to call it. I do miss my family sometimes though. Usually I'm too busy to think about it-its easier to daydream. Plus thinking about my family is kind of a bittersweet thing (I miss them terribly, but they make me smile), so I tend to avoid thinking about them. But I do miss them. All of them-mom, heidi, aly, dad. Squirt has become dangerously fat-seriuosly. She's going to need surgery or have a heart attack at 3 soon. Plus its not good for her bad leg.

Alright-Chase update. We've started riding. Yes, riding. But never longer than 20 minutes, and never more than 3 times a week. We've started to learn control-taught him to go, whoa, and turn. He's quick as a whip, he really is. Farrah's started helping me with the trot-she'll hold on to the lead rope and walk fast, while I sit on his back. We desensitize him first by me bouncing on his back with my seat (not as easy as it would seem), and then go further. We've only done a few trot steps at a time so far. Though I'm very cautious-I really don't want to ruin him, he means so much to me. Oh! Note-when I ride, I'm bareback, and he's in a halter with a 22 ft tied into a hackamore knot. He's doing really good-though he tends to get irritated when we trot. He shows this by biting at Farrah and pinning his ears. farrah says this is a normal reaction-riding is a very dominant thing for horses. It makes sense, especially since he's such a hotshot. Lol. Been trying to switch over to the name 'Sunchaser' but it just doesn't...It just doesn't ring as right. :) Lol. I guess I'll just have to get used to it. Other than riding-we've moved onto the weave pattern and tonight we started liberty. Ok-weave pattern will come up next, I promise. But liberty has to be talked about first-I'm excited about it.
The lesson tonight started out with liberty-I was really suprised. And excited. Sure, we've played liberty on our own every once in a while, but it seems now that Farrah's including it in our lessons-it really means we're moving up. Becoming more advanced. Moving towards that dream. So Farrah came in with three of her horses-wesley, Ceasar and Diego. Her dogs, Bear the saint bernard and Jazmine the border
collie were trailing behind as usual. It really amazes me how she leads her horses up to the barn-she haltered only two and the third followed at liberty. she does that a lot-and that is mind blowing to me. To be out there with no round corral or anything and your horse just follows you? Herd or not, I want to be able to do that someday-or at least feel confident enough to try it.
so she started out by telling me to set Chase free with the rest of the herd, and that we were going to play together at liberty. That alone keened my interest. We were doing simple things-circle game and change of direction. But it was still awesome. To see tails and manes flying and all the horses running together-it was just so beautiful to watch. Chase was completely dwarfed by the other horses. LOL. And he lagged behind-he didn't really want to join in at all. When the change of direction came, it was apparent how much we have to work on that-all the other horses turned and faced us to go the other way, while Chase sort of wandered off. Lol. the silly boy. At the end of the short liberty session as that-we tried to bring in all the horses one by one, but it didn't really work. All of farrah's horses came to her at once, and poor Chase was trying to find a way around the bigger horses to me. Lol. My poor, abused child.
Next Farrah had Chase and I play at liberty with the level 3 tasks. She showed me how to use the game stick to me in achieving the figure eight at liberty-which was fun. Though it was hard to follow her exact instructions-I just kinda winged it, honestly. I didn't remember half of what she said-and I think its because my mind nowadays works really fast, and she was trying really hard to explain it to me clearly, which meant talking slow and demonstrating. But it was hard to concentrate on her because of exactly that-my fast moving mind had issues soaking it in somehow when the explanation was so slow. I don't know. Lol. Farrah's awesome. Erg...I'm tired....and the words are getting hard to concentrate on.....I need to sleep. I'll finish this in the morning. Talk to you later.
