Well, today was quite the interesting session. He came to greet me when I saw him today-he headed for the gate as soon as I saw him, which made me think everything was going to go PERFECT today. Well. Famous last words. My child is officially going through the terrible twos....LOL. He seemed wonderful at the friendly game-insisted I pet him more, per say usual. The extreme friendly game didn't scare him at all. Well, I gave him a bit of extra grain and went to go set up the toys (poles, cones, ect), leaving the gate open as I went so he would have the choice to come say hello if he so chose. Well-he walked right past me to go socialize with the horses in the other pasture-the playful bunch. I swear, when he becomes a yearling I'm going to have to have a talk with him about flirting with those mares. *grin* Well, when I was done, I walked over and he gave me permission to come into his space bubble with the halter. He put his nose in it willingly, which got me thinking that maybe he'd be wonderful after all. We tackled some of his confidence issues with the eye medicine (my bad, I made a mistake the last time I gave it to him-I wrestled him into it *cringe* It was freezing outside and it was early morning-no excuse, but an explanation. however, I won't make that mistake again-it came back to haunt me). Well, that took about 15-20 minutes, I think. That's fine, it's less than the last time (go figure, right?). Then we just stood there because he told me he needed comfort-he had gone introverted a bit even (I did the ear test), which made me feel even WORSE about the last time. When he was confident again we played some of the games without the obstacles to see what side of the stall he had woken up on. Granted he was gelded 3 days ago, but that doesn't mean I can let him get away with being snotty. Well, right away we had issues with the yoyo-the backing. He looked away slowly, and I read his expression as LB, so I upped the phases until it was phase four and he was still resisting-so I smacked his chest with my apple stick using my energy. That got a 'WHOA' outta him and he backed up and responded to my lighter phase following that. I brought him back to me, and found that I had read him right and hadn't killed his confidence in me. SCORE! WHOOT!! I'm FINALLY LEARNING TO READ HORSES CORRECTLY! THANK YOU PARELLI! *does happy dance* Something interesting happened today as well-when he wiped the snotty attitude off, he stopped starting to circle after I back him up. I'll bet that means that I have to be more assertive. *smacks forehead at the BFO* Our circling game was quite interesting-he was being snotty (swishing his tail, pushing his nose and neck at the air and cantering around) about it, so I set it up so he would have to look out for A BILLION POLES ON THE GROUND. Haha-now that's one way to stop evil thoughts. However, he did attempt to barge into my space at one point, and I found that I could stop it just by bringing my energy up. a-hah!!!!!! either way, the session ended with him licking his lips quite loosely and saying 'yes ma'am' at phase ONE. phase ONE. I'm so proud of him. He even tied for the first time today! YAY! So today was quite fun. I can't WAIT until tomrrow! Oh! Here's a photo of him socializing. Ack never mind-I can't find the cord to upload it. Well, talk to you people later. Have a splendid night!
