I posted this on the Savvy Club Forum a couple of days ago, and figured I might as well post it here too so I don't lose it. I have all rights to it-I wrote it.
THANK YOU
For not tying my head down
For not using bigger bits
For not putting a chain over my nose to control me with force
For not using the punishment fab that most humans seem to like
For not abusing the use of spurs on my sides
For not yanking my head around
For not tying my mouth shut
For not blaming me when I am being a horse
THANK YOU
For learning to understand my language.
For being there when I looked for safety and comfort.
For playing with me instead of working me.
For putting my happiness as your top priority.
For leading instead of forcing
For letting me have a say in our partnership
For taking the time it takes
For preserving my dignity
For going through all the frustration of learning for my sake
For rewarding the slightest try instead of asking for more
For being firm instead of cruel
For refusing ignorance
For saving my spirit
For loving me as a partner and not as a motorbike
I May Be
Old and Worn
Or Young and New to the World
Or somewhere in between
You may have been my first owner
Or may have gone through many owners before coming to you
But I know I am lucky to have you out of all the humans in the world
Because you understand me
