I Really Think We've Hit Our Stride
I'm finally starting to notice his expressions better. YES. He tried his heart out for me today, and I was able to recognize unconfidence at the bridge-even though it wasn't obvious, and brought him back in and just stood there rubbing him. He told me I was correct by licking his lips and letting his tongue come out (he's usually a secret lip licker. He's so amazing. :) I also noticed that when he's unconfident, he hides behind me and touches my arm for comfort with his nose (noticed this while playing friendly game with the apple stick). So one thing I have a hunch on-I don't think he's that self confident. He's fine and confident when I'm right beside him, but the he gets insecure when I move away. Also, he had his first thorough grooming session today (he rolled in a lot of mud, and it was wet out). He moved around a bit at first, but then relaxed and enjoyed it. He REALLY loved getting his tail combed. :) Lovely. He's so perfect. And today was the first day he didn't just go off and ignore me afterwards-he followed me along the fence while I went to the truck. When he realized I was leaving, he stopped, and watched us leave. I felt the urge to pack him in the truck and go home. LOL. Soon enough, hopefully I'll either live somewhere where he's boarded or I'll have my own property. :)
