Dealing with Predatory Irritation

Lately I've been getting irritated at Chase. And so, the subject of this blog post, which may be long or short depending on how my mind ends up working tonight, is how to think of things in a different way, and strategies on what to do when I feel the irritation rising up, how to identify it, and how to remember the strategies and initiate them.
First off, I have an idea to switch the 'he's being disrespectful' mindset to 'oh, I need to better my leadership'. So basically, replace the word 'disrespect' which ultimately leads to the conclusion of smacking him, with 'leadership'. Why I think this will work is that is changes the focus of the thought from blaming the horse, to putting responsibility on the human instead.
Second, I'm going to try to point this tendency out when it happens when I'm playing. It doesn't happen nearly as much or as dramatically when we're out in the arena playing with things, as when I'm handling his feet. I tend to get more irritated when I handle his feet, because he's taken to leaning completely on me, and will actually switch his positioning around so he can put more weight on me with the front end, and will sometimes lean on me but more often jerk his foot away unexpectedly when I'm handling the back end (see the blame the horse tone in that sentence?)
Anyways, I've noticed this same feeling pops up sometimes when I'm playing-only I haven't recognized it as such until now.
So I've lots to think about....will update this post later.
